Water intake for the preparation of drinking water and its supply to the centralized water supply system of Kyiv is carried out from three sources:

• 30% - the Dnieper River,

• 60% - the Desna River,

• 10% - artesian springs.

Quality control of drinking water of the centralized water supply system has been worked out for many years and allows obtaining reliable results. Our specialists monitor the quality of drinking water 24/7:

• at the outlet of the treatment plants, control is carried out daily for 22 indicators, monthly for 48 and annually for 76 indicators,

• at artesian pumping stations, the check is carried out in wells and at the outlet of the pumping stations,

• in the city's distribution water supply networks, water quality is checked daily for 35 control points on different streets in all districts of Kyiv,

• The main laboratory of Kyivvodokanal analyzes more than 70 samples daily.

The quality of drinking water complies with the current State Sanitary Rules and DSanPiN norms.

The content of bacteriological, organic and inorganic contaminants in the water of the Dnipro and Desna rivers varies by season and year. In this regard, to ensure proper drinking water quality, Kyivvodokanal specialists constantly adjust the optimal technological regimes of water treatment based on the results of daily water quality studies carried out by our three laboratories - Desnyanska, Dniprovska water supply stations and the Main Laboratory of Kyivvodokanal.

Adjustment of technological regimes is carried out within the framework of design technologies and structures of existing treatment facilities. At the same time, Kyivvodokanal specialists have developed and are implementing measures aimed at improving the quality of water treatment, in particular, the reconstruction of water supply stations and individual objects of the centralized water supply system.
