What we do

Kyivvodokanal is the oldest and most powerful water supply company in Ukraine and one of the largest in Europe, which provides centralized water supply and drainage of the city of Kyiv, and also accepts wastewater from nearby settlements for treatment. All 24 structural divisions of the company have already implemented a quality management system in accordance with DSTU EN ISO 9001:2018 (EN ISO 9001:2015, IDT, ISO 9001:2015, IDT) “Quality Management Systems. Requirements”.

Water from three sources – the Dnieper, Desna and artesian wells – is raised to the Dniprovska and Desnyanska stations, where complex technological processes for its treatment take place. Kyivvodokanal carefully monitors the quality and composition of water at each stage. About 1,000 samples are taken and analyzed daily.

What we do

Kyiv’s water supply system consists of about 4,200 km of networks. This is the distance covered by 700 million liters of clean water daily, which reaches homes and enterprises in Kyiv. Wastewater, often with an excessive content of pollutants and garbage, travels almost 3,000 km through pipelines and enters the Bortnytsia Aeration Station (BSA), where it undergoes mechanical and biological treatment.

These vital processes for Kyiv residents are ensured by the enterprise’s almost 7,000-strong staff, 450 units of special equipment, and dozens of facilities with sophisticated equipment and technologies.

Regarding the quality of drinking water

Water intake for the preparation of drinking water and its supply to the centralized water supply system of Kyiv is carried out from three sources:

30% - Dnipro River,

60% - Desna River,

10% - artesian springs.

The quality control of drinking water from the centralized water supply system has been developed over many years and allows us to obtain reliable results. Our specialists control the quality of drinking water 24/7:

  • at the outlet of the treatment plants, control is carried out daily for 22 indicators, monthly for 48 and annually for 76 indicators,

  • at artesian pumping stations, the check is carried out in wells and at the outlet of the pumping stations,

  • in the city's distribution water supply networks, the water quality is checked daily for 35 control points on different streets in all districts of Kyiv,

The main laboratory of Kyivvodokanal analyzes more than 70 samples daily.

What we do

The quality of drinking water complies with the current State Sanitary Rules and DSanPiN norms.
