The Government of Ukraine has received a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the amount of 350 million USD for the purposes of the Second Urban Infrastructure Development Project (IUD-2).
The project is financed by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) (300 million USD) jointly with the Clean Technology Fund (CTF) (50 million USD) and aims to assist municipal enterprises in improving the quality and reliability of service provision and reducing operating costs through a number of institutional improvements and rehabilitation of water supply, wastewater and solid waste management systems.
In 2014, the following loan agreements were signed between Ukraine and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development:

On December 4, 2014, five-party sub-credit agreements were signed between the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine, the Kyiv City Council, the National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Municipal Services, and PJSC “AK “Kyivvodokanal” No. 13010-05/128 and No. 13010-05/129 on the terms of use of the loan.
In accordance with the specified sub-credit agreements, 11.4 million USD was allocated for the reconstruction of the water supply system of the city of Kyiv, including 9.3 million USD from the IBRD, and 2.1 million USD from the FCT.
Within the framework of the PRMI-2, PrJSC “AK “Kyivvodokanal” held international tenders to determine general contracting organizations for three Lots:
“Reconstruction of pumping stations of the 1st rise of the Dniprovska water supply station with the introduction of energy-saving equipment and frequency regulation with water intake structures” (Lot 1);
“Reconstruction of the pumping water supply station of the third rise of the Desnyanska water supply station with the introduction of energy-saving equipment and frequency regulation, reconstruction of the power plant of the Krutogorna water supply station” (Lot 2);
“Supply and installation of mechanical and electrical equipment for booster pumping stations”, contract (Lot 3).
PrJSC “AK “Kyivvodokanal” has already successfully implemented Lot 2, which provided for the reconstruction of two water supply pumping stations with the introduction of energy-saving equipment and frequency regulation. To date, these facilities have already been put into operation.
For LOT No. 3 - booster pumping stations - in 2019, a full range of construction works was completed: pumping equipment was replaced, facades were decorated, roof waterproofing was performed, process pipelines and shut-off valves were replaced, and automation and dispatching systems were installed.
